It’s been reported that Amazon founder Jeff Bezos is considering the purchase of the NFL’s Washington Commanders.

ESPN’s source has confirmed that Bezos has hired an investment firm to examine a possible bid on the franchise.

The Washington Post, which is owned by Bezos, has reported that the Amazon founder is working with Allen & Company, a New York-based firm that is prominent in transactions involving professional sports franchises. Learn more

UK government to introduce new football regulator

A new body regulating British football will be able to block clubs from joining a breakaway European Super League.

Viaplay reports 83% rise in streaming subscribers

The Swedish media group has seen an 83% jump in its quarterly subscriber base, year-on-year.

Despite the international expansion of the streaming platform, Viaplay has reported an adjusted quarterly operating loss of SEK294m (€26.5m/$28.5m).

The changes include a pitch clock that limits pitchers to 15 seconds with bases empty and 20 seconds between pitches with runners on; the end of the infield shift — infielders must have both feet touching the dirt at the start of a pitch, with two fielders on each side of the second base; and bigger bases, expanded from 15 to 18 inches on each side.
