NBA’s refreshed app embraces sports betting

The league’s redesigned mobile app puts greater emphasis on sports betting content.

The new NBA App, which is free to download, will include new personalization features, behind-the-scenes material, and sports wagering content through the NBABet Stream component.

Betr bans use of credit cards, limits deposits for young users

Betr has become the first US sports betting business to ban the use of credit cards to fund user accounts.

Betr will allow payment options such as pre-paid cards or debit cards to make deposits.

Speaking at the Global Gaming Expo conference in Las Vegas, CEO Joey Levy has also announced that the company will enforce deposit limits on users aged 21-25.  Read more

FIFA earmarks $209M for clubs that release players for World Cup

$209 million dollars will be distributed by the football governing body to clubs that will release their internationals for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, the same amount as four years ago in Russia.

Every football club will get about $10,000 (€10,280) per day for the release of one of their players, including during the official preparation before the World Cup, which takes place from 20 November to 18 December.

In 2018, over 400 clubs playing in 63 different member countries were paid by FIFA for releasing their players. Read more

BetMGM enters Great American Ball Park as part of Reds deal

The multi-year agreement between BetMGM and Cincinnati Reds will include opening a sportsbook on the northeast side of the ballpark.

Ohio is scheduled to start legal sports betting on January 1, 2023.

“With sports gaming coming to Ohio, the Reds sought to bring the highest quality operator to our ballpark for those fans who choose to participate in sports gaming,” said Doug Healy, the Reds’ chief financial officer, said in a statement. “BetMGM is renowned for their expertise in entertainment and sports gaming, and we believe their brand best fits our high customer standards and will also help draw visitors to our city.” Read more

Polish Fortuna 1 Liga’s revenues keep growing

The revenues of football clubs playing in Fortuna 1 Liga get higher every year. In the 2021/2022 season, the total sum amounted to PLN 153.56 million, according to the latest report from Deloitte.

Part of the clubs’ incomes comes from PPV match broadcasts, which had been launched by the league in collaboration with Cyfrowy Polsat and STATSCORE. Learn more [in Polish]
