The UK-based betting company has agreed on a two-year partnership with the Brazilian club from Belo Horizonte. The deal will cover the 2023 and 2024 seasons.

“This historic partnership has a lot of strength and huge potential,” Cruzeiro chief executive Gabriel Lima said. “The club is going through a very special moment. IBIA reports 14% increase in suspicious betting

268 alerts reported, 14 sports concerned, and 61 countries involved – here comes the International Betting Integrity Association 2022 Integrity Report.

The 268 reported cases represent a 14% year-on-year increase. During 2022, fifteen teams, officials or players were sanctioned following an investigation where IBIA reported suspicious activity.

IBIA CEO Khalid Alisaid: “The protective shield provided by IBIA is a vital tool in identifying and sanctioning attempted corruption on regulated betting markets.

“That has been underlined by welcome successful prosecutions during 2022 based on IBIA data, and we expect further corroboration of the association’s important positive impact and collaborative approach to be evident throughout 2023.” Read more

Paid streaming subscriptions in UK fall by 2m in 2022

The 2022 World Cup streamed 92 million times on iPlayer in the UK, making it the most-watched programme for 2022. However, the cost-of-living crisis forces households to resign from some streaming services.

Brits’ love of streaming remains as strong as ever, but the effect of high inflation meant consumers were forced to make difficult choices to balance their finances,” Dominic Sunnebo, Kantar’s global director of entertainment on demand, told the BBC.

In 2022, the most popular sports events streamed in the UK were the 2022 World Cup, the Commonwealth Games, and Wimbledon. Read more

YouTube TV drops MLB Network

YouTube TV failed to reach an agreement on a contract renewal with MLB Network.

MLB Network was part of the streaming service’s $65 Base Plan and one of the few that carried 4K content as part of YouTube TV’s 4K Plus add-on.

In a message to subscribers, YouTube TV said:

We have been working hard to renew our deal with the MLB Network to continue carrying their content on YouTube TV. However, we have been unable to reach an agreement, and starting today, January 31, 2023, MLB Network content will no longer be available on YouTube TV. You will also lose access to any previous Library recordings from this channel. Members will be able to continue watching select national MLB games via coverage on FOX, ESPN, and TBS through our Base Plan. We also provide the flexibility to pause or cancel your membership anytime. Read more
