Millions of Americans able to legally bet on the Olympics for the first time

According to research from the American Gambling Association, 1 in 10 US adults will place a bet on an event during the Tokyo Games. 21 US states now allow legal sports betting.

Will it be easy for them to win their bets? That could prove difficult as some experts underline the element of unpredictability related to the Olympics, especially regarding team sports. Players participating in basketball, baseball or soccer tournaments don’t typically play together, making it difficult to bet based on data or historical performance. Read more

Massachusetts moves toward legalizing sports betting

Massachusetts House of Representatives passed a bill legalizing sports betting, but the question of allowing college sports wagers remains a major hurdle.

Bill H3977, if enacted, will allow wagering on professional sports, college sports (excluding props on individual athletes), esports and video games in-person at casinos and on mobile. Read more

Chelsea fans must prove vaccination or test negative against Covid to attend games

Chelsea have told supporters they need to be fully vaccinated or have a negative Covid test before attending men’s and women’s home games this season.

“This is to increase the safety and comfort of our supporters, players and staff as we begin hosting capacity crowds for the first time since March last year.” – the club’s statement said. Read more

Barack Obama joins NBA Africa as minority owner

Former US president would use his new equity stake in NBA Africa to expand the Obama Foundation.

Barack Obama has become a strategic partner and minority owner in the NBA’s African entity, which oversees the Basketball Africa League.

The NBA launched its African competition in May and values the business as a nearly $1 billion venture. Obama “will help advance the league’s social responsibility efforts across the continent, including programs and partnerships that support greater gender equality and economic inclusion,” according to a news release from the NBA. 6) You have the right to access the personal data held about you and to have your data rectified or erased or to restrict or to object to the processing as well as the right to data portability.
