After having legalized betting, Ukraine to host a massive gambling event

Ukrainian Gaming Week 2020, which will take place on November 26-27 in Kyiv, will be the first major event for the industry after President Volodymir Zelensky sign a bill legalizing gambling and betting.

Organizers expect 100 participating businesses and 3,000 attendees, the floor area will be 5,000 square meters. Read more

UK sports bodies appeal for emergency funding

Leaders of over 100 sports bodies in the UK – including the Premier League, tennis, cricket and rugby authorities – had appealed to Prime Minister Boris Johnson for emergency funding.

The coalition of UK sports organisations warns that the coronavirus crisis could lead to “a lost generation of activity” and urges the authorities to provide a “sports recovery fund” that would allow the sector to “survive and stabilise”.

Huge increase in sports betting in Colorado

The Colorado Department of Revenue reports there was a 117% jump in sports wagers in August compared to July.

The top three sports by total wagers were basketball, with $38 million in wagers place in both retail and online operators, followed by baseball with $22.78 million, and ice hockey with $13.59 million, said the Department of Revenue in a statement.

Super Bowl LV without fans?

NFL is considering contingency plans for Super Bowl LV in regard to coronavirus pandemic. 

“Well, we certainly have to prepare for that,” said Jonathan Barker, head of live events and production for the NFL. “Our hope is going to be to fill this stadium with fans. That’s our hope. But the smart thing to do is to prepare just in case. If we find ourselves on Feb. 7 where we’re in a different scenario, we’re going to just make sure we’re ready for that.”  Read more
