Dallas Cowboys owner endorses betting in Texas

Jerry Jones that the state should benefit from legal sports betting just like all the other states which passed relevant laws.

“Well, I think it’s really a thing that needs to be addressed at this time,” Jones said, appearing on 105.3 The Fan in Dallas. “One of the reasons why I think it does is because it’s happening at this time. There’s a huge amount of gaming going on in and around sports at this time. And, so, to have all of the benefits or all of the control over it, it needs to be recognized and parameters put on it and discipline put in it. Then, also the benefits that go, can go in Texas, could adhere to the right kind of people or some property tax. Certainly, help educate our great state’s children. All of those things can be enhanced by something that’s presently going on in a big, big way.” Read more

11 of 20 richest football clubs play in Premier League

Manchester City keep their position at the top for the second time, according to the 26th edition of the Deloitte Football Money League.

Real Madrid is the second richest club in the ranking, followed by Liverpool FC, Manchester United, and Paris Saint-Germain.

The total revenue for the top 20 revenue-generating franchises in 2021/22 stood at €9.2 billion, an increase of 13% in comparison to the €8.2 billion reported by the Money League clubs of 2020/21. Read more

NBA signs TV rights deal with BBC

British broadcaster signed an agreement which started with The NBA Paris Game 2023 last Thursday, featuring Chicago Bulls and Detroit Pistons.

According to the deal, BBC will broadcast four regular season games, two Playoff games, one Conference Finals game and one NBA Finals game, along with highlights, and an end-of-season review program.

The BBC Sport rights portfolio also includes the Olympic Games, The FA Cup, the Women’s Super League, the Wimbledon Championships, the Six Nations and Match of The Day. Read more

NFL Wild Card round draws huge audience

The six games of the first round of NFL playoffs averaged about 28.4 million viewers.

The result represents a 4 percent decline from 2022’s opening round (29.65 million) but still remains huge. The most-watched telecast was the New York Giants’ win over the Minnesota Vikings, which attracted 33.21 million for Fox. Read more

It is currently illegal to bet on sports on the Internet in 11 states that house teams in the four most bet-on US sports leagues.
