Brazil seeks guarantees that betting taxes will be paid in the country

As Brazil is set to develop its gambling and sports betting regulations, it has been reported the government seeks assurances that foreign businesses will be liable to pay all domestic taxes. 

A bill approved by the Chamber of Deputies last February sets a 17% tax on sports betting and gambling. The government now wants to make sure that foreign operators would establish domiciled offices in Brazil to guarantee higher tax incomes. Read more

La Liga renews Premier Sports broadcast deal for UK and Ireland

The Spanish top football league has extended its existing broadcast rights agreement with Premier Sports.

The broadcaster will remain the exclusive home of La Liga games in the UK and Ireland for the upcoming three seasons.

Melcior Soler, audiovisual director at LaLiga, said: “These past three years have seen LaLiga reach British and Irish viewers via a unique distribution strategy forged in partnership with Premier Sports. We look forward to continuing to innovate in our offering to the UK and Ireland markets, allowing viewers everywhere to enjoy the best that Spanish football has to offer.” Read more

Ukraine to restart its football league in August

The 2021-22 season of the league was suspended in April after Russia attacked Ukraine on February 24.

Now the Ukrainian Football Association is planning to resume the competition despite the ongoing war.

Andriy Pavelko, president of the Ukrainian Football Association (UFA) has said he discussed the importance of football for the Ukrainian society with the country’s president Volodymir Zelenskyy, and they had both decided to restart the league in August. Read more

UEFA will stage first women’s Finalissima

UEFA and CONMEBOL have announced a series of new events involving women’s football from the two confederations.

One of them will be UEFA-CONMEBOL Women’s Finalissima, which will be held in Europe between the winners of the UEFA Women’s EURO 2022 (to be played in July in England) and the winners of the 2022 CONMEBOL Copa América Femenina (to be played in July in Colombia).

The men’s Finalissima was won by Argentina (Copa America winners) 3-0 against Italy (Euro winners) at the Wembley Stadium on June 1. Read more

NFL makes E. & J. Gallo its official… wine sponsor

The National Football League has signed a multi-year pact with California-based E. & J. Gallo Winery that designates the company as the official wine sponsor of the league.

A new deal has the league nearing $2 billion in sponsorship agreements for the first time in history.

The NFL had already signed a beer rights deal with Anheuser-Busch, and an agreement with Diageo covering hard alcohol. Read more
