Sport is back in South Korea. And Bundesliga restarts soon!

South Korea is one of the first countries in the world to restart its sporting competitions during the coronavirus pandemic.

First, the KBO, the highest level of baseball in South Korea had its delayed Opening Day on May 5.  The matches are held without fans and under strict restrictions.

Americans to avoid attending sports events until there’s a vaccine

Unfortunately, even when sports do come back, they won’t look the same as they used to. There will be numerous restrictions for teams and players. Most visibly, games in major sports leagues will be held without fans.

US wants sports back, Canada isn’t that eager. What about the NHL?

When talking about American sports, it is sometimes forgotten that some US major leagues include Canadian teams too.

Currently, one MLB team is based in Canada (Toronto Blue Jays), the MLS features three Canadian franchises (Montreal Impact, Toronto FC, Vancouver Whitecaps FC), and the NBA has one team (Toronto Raptors).

The proportions change a bit when you look at the NHL, which currently boasts seven Canadian teams.

Why does it matter now? Because in the times of COVID-19 restarting the season may require the approval of both countries. And while Donald Trump says he wants the sports back ASAP, Canada isn’t that eager. Read more
