BoyleSports is betting big on UK high-street shops

Retail businesses of all kinds have been heavily hit in several past years, but that hasn’t stopped companies such as BoyleSports from expanding their high street presence.

“Customers get the general experience of being around like-minded people and the feeling of having cash in your hand, but it predominantly revolves around that social interaction. That’s why for us it’s incredibly important to get the environment spot on to facilitate that” – says Lee Otter, BoyleSports’ Director of Property and Development, in an interview with SBC. World Rugby extends partnership with Emirates for 2023 and 2027 World Cups

Dubai-based airline Emirates will remain a worldwide partner of the Rugby World Cup.

The renewed agreement covers the 2023 Rugby World Cup, which will take place in France, as well as the next edition of the competition, which is to be held in Australia in 2027.

The deal also allows Emirates to provide inflight coverage of the Rugby World Cup live and on-demand for the next two tournaments.

“We are delighted to announce the extension of our long-term and successful collaboration with Emirates for the next two men’s Rugby World Cups and in support of our men’s and women’s match officials programme,” said Bill Beaumont, the chairman of World Rugby. Read more

Chinese Basketball Association sues video-sharing platform Bilibili for $60m

China’s top basketball league has sued two operators of video giant Bilibili claiming $60.05 million in damages.

Bilibili has been accused by the Chinese Basketball Association of copyright infringement for the unauthorised streaming of games, and of violating the country’s Anti-Unfair Competition Law.

The CBA claims that the video-sharing platform hosted unauthorised live games and highlights from the 2019-20 season of the league. Read more
