COVID-19 uncertainty has changed sports business forever

Nielsen’s “2021 Global Sports Marketing Trends” report outlines key trends impacting sports marketing and sponsorship.

Athlete’s role as influencers is one of the key trends outlined in the study. According to Nielsen, athlete ‘advocacy posts’ generate 63% more engagement for brands compared to other owned social media content. The continued rise of athletes as influencers will require new methods of measurement to understand its reach and impact. Read more

English betting shops could reopen on April 12

According to UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s “roadmap out of lockdown”, British betting shops could be reopened in mid-April.

Although the documents don’t include any specific mention of sports betting businesses, they are part of the non-essential retail, which is provisionally set to open on April 12.

NHL’s spectacular Lake Tahoe games attract fans… in boats

“NHL Outdoors at Lake Tahoe” was one of the league’s most spectacular outdoor events.

The NHL didn’t allow fans in Lake Tahoe to attend their two outdoor hockey games this weekend. But that didn’t stop fans on Lake Tahoe from watching – they just needed to use their kayaks and boats.
