Meet Radosław Firlej, STATSCORE’s Business Development Manager focused on relationships with sports organizations!

Radosław Firlej’s role in STATSCORE involves building relationships with sports organizations and showing them all the amazing things that top-quality data can do for them. Let’s find out more about it!

– Radek, could you first tell us about your experience and how you became part of STATSCORE?

– Before joining STATSCORE, for almost eleven years I had worked at Legia Warsaw football club. During that time I performed many duties in several positions – from working in the media team at the beginning, to carrying out the formalities related to the players of the first team at the end. It was a great adventure that gave me the opportunity to participate in the richest decade in the history of this club in terms of the number of sports successes, but over a year ago I decided that I had to change something and look for new challenges. The vision of such a challenge was presented to me in STATSCORE.

– What is your role at STATSCORE?

At STATSCORE, my work focuses on building relationships with sports organizations. We are particularly interested in those that organize competitions in the disciplines from which we obtain data. One of the most important aspects of my job is to present all the benefits that come from the proper use of data in sport. A part of the issue is talking about the importance of having a structured strategy for official data. Clubs, federations and other sports organizations can do lots of exciting things with it.

– Do you feel that your previous experience in the football industry is giving you some special advantage when talking to STATSCORE’s potential partners?

– I wouldn’t call it an advantage, but experience in the sports business certainly helps. I just know which door to knock on first. In my previous job, I had a lot to do with football federations and I know that they cannot be treated entirely as commercial partners. Their activity is also related to the social responsibility of the discipline in a given country, including its sustainable development in all areas, such as, for example, futsal, women’s football or grassroots programs, which is very important for UEFA. Quite often in conversations with sports organizations from different sport disciplines, I get the impression that our offer is compared to the services of companies offering solutions that help trainers in the technical and tactical analysis. Based on my experience, the knowledge of this market helps me to illustrate the difference between using data in this way and the one we propose. It is obvious that these two methods are not mutually exclusive and are a great complement to each other.

– What are the biggest challenges in your job?

– It gives me great satisfaction when our partners begin to understand how great opportunities can open up with the data and how it can help build the image of each competition, even those commonly considered niche. Another challenge is to convince our partners that collaboration with STATSCORE is a “win-win” relationship. Organizations that decide to cooperate with us can only benefit.

– Why do you think are STATSCORE’s products getting so popular among sports organizations?

– In my opinion, this is because our LeagueCenter and TeamCenter are perfectly suited to the needs of sports organizations. They are very transparent and perfectly fulfil their role as an information center about the competition or the team for fans, without requiring any user service. An important role is also played by the very attractive price compared to other data-based tools for sports organizations and the fact that the implementation of our widgets takes only a few days.
