How to be a team player?

What does it mean to be a team player? This notion gained popularity a couple of years ago. We already know that it isn’t about playing some team sport or having some knowledge concerning sporting rules. But did you know that we need to look at the sky like the scientists, from the University of Oxford’s zoology department did, to learn a lesson on how to be a team player?

A GUIDANCE FROM THE SKY

The researchers studied the migratory birds (Geronticus eremita) trying to find out the reasons for the V-formations during their flight. They already knew that thanks to flying in a flock and profiting from the air tunnel created, the birds saved a lot of energy. But these studies showed us more about the bird’s collaboration. Thanks to tiny data loggers the scientists observed that the birds regularly changed their guide or, let’s say, the leader of the formation.

The birds knew in some way that this position was very tiring (because it comes with the biggest air-resistance) and they rotated hundreds of times before they reached their final destination. By doing this they encouraged and helped each other to continue their flight.

Does it now sound more familiar? To support each other in an emergency situation? To collaborate effectively to reach a common goal? To act together as a team?

NO TEAM = NO TEAM PLAYERS

To be a team player means to be a part of something. At STATSCORE, all players are a part of the big project to build the Biggest Sports Data Centre in the world.

Do not wait: join our team immediately and do BIG things with us!

Every player brings their abilities, intelligence, effort, talent, enthusiasm, energy, passion, individuality and their precious time.

By bringing all of this together and working as a team, respecting teammates, treating each other seriously while encouraging one another, will lead to great results on the way to a common goal.

Let’s go back to our migratory birds. By observing them, can we say that for a team player, the sky’s the limit? In a sense, yes.
