The first quarter-final game on the 14th match-day of the U-20 World Cup tournament will be between two teams that have met only once before. The mentioned match took place in 2017 as part of the last U-20 World Cup and ended in a 3-3 draw.
In the last round, the USA defeated France – a team who were among the favorites to win the entire championship. It was one of the best matches we have seen at the tournament here in Poland so far and the team from North America showed an incredible scoring ratio with 3 goals from 4 shots on target. Their confidence has certainly increased and that will help them in their next game.
In the previous round, Ecuador unexpectedly defeated an unbeaten Uruguay 3-1. Although two goals were scored from the penalty spot, the result was fully deserved. It seems that the team led by Jorge Celico is playing better and better in each match and we should see a very even game in Gdynia.

The second quarter-final of today will be the game between the Korea Republic and Senegal. These two teams that have never met before, but the favorite for this match will be the team from Africa.
Korea’s statistics in the last 3 games are quite good. They won all 3 matches and conceded only one goal. In the last round, they defeated another Asian team Japan, after scoring in the final minutes of the match. The Koreans won that game but were not the dominant team (ball possession 39% – 61%), so we expect Senegal to win this match quite easily.
Senegal are having a great championship in Poland. They have won 3 matches, drew one, scored 7 goals and while conceding only one. In their previous match, they eliminated Nigeria (2-1 in regular time) after a good game and in this match against the Korea Republic they are the big favorites.
