FIFA U-20 World Cup pre-match analysis – Day 10

FIFA U-20 WORLD CUP 1/8 FINALS

Poland – Italy

Venue: Stadion Miejski, Gdynia
It will be the first match of the World U-20 Championships 1/8 finals.
The host team trained by Jacek Magiera advanced to the knockout rounds thanks to their win against Tahiti and a 0:0 draw against Senegal. Their play hasn’t been really good and this match against  Italy will be a very tough game for them.

Italy is big favourites to win this match. They stormed through the group stage – won matches against Ecuador, Mexico and drew against Japan – this really gives them hope for the knockout stages.

Both teams are strong in defense – The Polish team have conceded only 2 goals in 3 games – the Italians just one.

STATSCORE prediction: Poland – Italy: 2

Colombia – New Zealand

Venue: Widzew Lodz Stadium, Łódź

The match between Colombia and New Zealand will be one of the most interesting games of the 1/8 finals. Both teams finished in second place in their groups and are more than able to win this game for a place in the quarter-finals.

Both teams have really good goal different stats (Colombia – 8:2, New Zealand 7:2) – The Colombians will count on a really good game from Cucho, who has scored 3 goals so far in this competition (second place in the leading goal scorers classification). New Zealand has Ben Waine,  who will also want to score more goals for his side and ensure promotion to the next round.

Who will win? It is a tough one to predict.

STATSCORE prediction: Colombia – New Zealand: 1 (after overtime)
